The education team at Poetry Ireland have been very busy during the past academic year. With our Writers in Schools and WorldWise Global Schools programmes, Poetry Aloud, the Trócaire poetry competition and performances from students at various events, it has been a very fulfilling time for everyone.

Ambassador Anne Anderson’s Irish-American Partnership award supports emigration-themed workshops

Anne Anderson, the 17th Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, was earlier this year granted an honorary award by the Irish-American Partnership, enabling her to bestow a donation to a charitable cause of her choice in Ireland.

Poetry Day Ireland and Fota Wildlife Park competition winners announced

From Saturday 8 April – Thursday 27 April, visitors to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork can pick up a Poetry Trail Map and enjoy some great, family-friendly poems about the animas and trees at Fota. The Poetry Trail Map is free with entry to the park, and includes poems by famous poets as well as a selection of prize-winning poems from the Poetry Day Ireland and Fota Wildlife Park Children’s Poetry Competition.
