Winner of Irish poetry prize announced

Limerick Country Council has announced poet and scholar, Stiofán Ó Cadhla, as the winner of the 2012 Michael Hartnett Poetry Award.

The poet's first collection contains both older and recent poems and was thought by the judges to have "a quality of experience and achievement that is rare in a first collection."

The award, which is worth €6,500, is presented annually and is the initiative of the Limerick County Arts office with funding from the Arts Council.
