Nobel Prize for Literature: Tomas Tranströmer

 

Tomas Tranströmer delivered his Nobel Prize for Literature lecture yesterday with the assistance of actor Kristina Adolphson, actor Krister Henriksson, pianist Roland Pöntinen, conductor Gustaf Sjöqvist's Chamber Choir and others.

Arts Council Indecon Report

 

The Arts Council of Ireland have published the  Assessment of the Economic Impact of the Arts in Ireland report, compiled by Indecon International Economic Consultants. 

The report highlights that the Arts Sector in Ireland contributed €306.8 million in tax revenues, a total of 21,328 jobs and indirect and induced employment of 78,900.

Introductions Series 2012 Submissions

 The Poetry Ireland Introductions Series offers a paid public reading to poets working towards a first collection or with a début collection already published, and who have a track record of publication in journals and 'little' magazines.  
 
To apply for an Introductions reading and a preparatory masterclass in Spring 2012, send a maximum of 10 pages of poems and a short biographical note emphasising publication credits to:

Introductions, Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann, 2 Proud's Lane, off St Stephen's Green, D2.
 
The closing date for submissions is Friday 6 January 2012.
