The Bealtaine Writers: Second Anthology of Poetry

The Bealtaine poets present the launch of their second annthology. The Bealtaine group have been meeting at the Irish Writers Centre every month for the past fifteen and a half years. As Macdara Woods says in the Foreword of the Anthology: "They are an autonomous, serious, supportive group of writers, who believe in poetry, there are many truly marvelous realities at large in these pages and for the reader the joy of finding them." Come along and celebrate the launch with them - all are welcome.

Launch of "Irish Feminisms, Past Present and Future" by Clara Fischer and Mary McAuliffe (eds)

Poet and writer Catherine Phil MacCarthy will launch Irish Feminisms, Past, Present and Future, a collection of essays spanning over 100 years of feminist practice and thought in Ireland. The book includes contributions from activists, academics, public representatives, NGO practitioners, and students. Discounted copies of the book will be available on the night, as will drinks.

Over The Edge: Open Reading plus launch of Galway-Lorient poetry initiative

The final Over The Edge: Open Reading of 2014 features Edward O'Dwyer, Christine Murray & Marion Cox, followed by an open mic. The evening will also include the launch of "Poemes Galway - Lorient" a web magazine featuring poems in both English and French by poets from Galway and its twin city Lorient in Brittany. The Over The Edge Christmas celebration will take place afterwards.
