Honouring Robert Graves

Honouring Robert Graves

The Limerick Writers' Centre will honour the poet and writer Robert Graves with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Locke Bar on George's Quay in Limerick. Robert Graves' family originated from Limerick.
 
The commemorative plaque will be unveiled by the Limerick poet John Liddy, who is Limerick City of Culture writer-in-residence for the month of July. There evening will also include a reading of Robert Graves' poetry.

Patrick Kavanagh Centre Annual Creative Writing Workshop Weekend with Noel Monahan

The Patrick Kavanagh Centre presents its annual creative writing weekend. Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July.

This year's  workshop director is Noel Monahan.

The workshop will cover topics such as finding inspiration, responding to poetry and prose, finding a form for your creative writing, arranging your work on the page, writing about people and place, using mythology and dream, exploring rhythm and line breaks, editing your work.

Ó Bhéal: Raina J. León
Ó Bhéal presents a poetry reading with Raina J. León. Raina is Cave Canem graduate fellow (2006) and member of the Carolina African American Writers Collective. Dan Disney is an Australian poet and researcher currently based in Seoul.His first collection of poems,’And Then When The’ is published by John Leonard Press (2011), and three books ’Mannequin’s Guide to Utopias’, ‘Report from a Border’, and ‘Exploring Second-language Creative Writing: Beyond Babel’ are expected in 2014. He teaches 20th century poetry in the English Literature programme at Sogang University, and is completing a book of villanelles.
