Join the director of Conamara Environmental Education & Cultural Centre, Leo Hallissey and guests, on a walking tour of the Letterfrack Poetry Trail. The Poetry Trail was launched in October 2014 by President Michael D. Higgins.

To mark the 30th anniversary of CEECC in 2014, nine poets were commissioned to write a poem celebrating the importance of place.  Some poems are general in nature and some are site-specific and deal with the troubled history of Letterfrack.  The poems are displayed on plaques located in Connemara National Park, in the Connemara West Centre, and in the village of Letterfrack. The poets included on the trail are: Eva Bourke, Moya Cannon, Theo Dorgan, Michael Gorman, Rita Ann Higgins, Paula Meehan, Joan McBreen, Mary O'Malley, and Louis de Paor.

President Higgins also contributed a poem ‘The Prophets are Weeping’ for the trail.

In 2017, 'Letterfrack Poetry Trail' book and CD was published by Artisan House in association with CEECC. Participants on the Poetry Day Ireland event will be offered a 20% discount on purchases of the book.
