Recovery in Rhyme

  • Thursday 26 April, 11.00am
  • SAOL, 58 Amiens Street, Dublin 1
  • Tickets: Free event

In SAOL, we are not trained poets. What we lack in literary skill we make up for in ‘sheer neck’. We write and expect people to find it interesting! We want our work to be integrated with the work of the people who honour the idea of SAOL and with the work of the people who work with us.

The aim for our verse is to create a body of nourishing poems that will help the women we work with to engage better with their recovery journey and to find their voice more clearly. We want poetry that will warm the cockles of your heart while also feeding your soul. All flavours will be present.

And so we invite you to this event - to write poetry in a room full of 'chancers' who express their stories in verse and then recite then for one another. Come here prepared or prepare when you come here - either way is acceptable.  But silence is not!  We want a chorus of voices making poetry and through it, breathing life into hope.

We will reflect on the hidden worlds of domestic violence and drug addiction and the lives of women and men from the inner city and a hundred other topics beside.
