World Poetry Day Celebration: Workshop with Bernie McGill

  • Wednesday 21 & Thursday 22 March 2018
  • Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy
  • Tickets: Free workshop with Bernie McGill (exhibition tour £3)

You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened wine: summer’s blood was in it…

Aimed at Keys Stage 2 pupils, you can enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition at HomePlace (optional); participate in a creative writing workshop led by Bernie McGill, exploring the language, imagery and structure of one of Heaney’s poems, such as 'Blackberry Picking'; create a poem of their own, with guidance, and have the opportunity to read their own work (and/ or one of Heaney’s poems) at an ‘open mic’ session afterwards in the Helicon theatre.
