Entry to this competition is free.                                                                                

Entrant details (name, age, school or contact number) must be clearly marked on each entry if posting work or at the end of the work if sending by email. Poems can be on any theme but should NOT have been published before or won a prize in any other competition, and must be the student’s OWN work. Entries will also be accepted from individual students as well as entries sent in by schools. Cavan, Ireland on or before FRIDAY 16th MARCH  2018clearly stating which category you are entering                                   

Award Ceremony will be held in Cavan Crystal HotelSunday 13th May 2018 at 3pm.                              

It is a condition of the awards that top prize winners must be present at the ceremony before a prize can be awarded.                                                                                                                                                           

Junior Category- All students throughout Ireland/U.K. in primary or national school education ( 8-12yrs )                                                                                                                                                                  

Senior Category- All students throughout Ireland/ U.K. in second level education (12-18 years)                                                                                                                                                                                                

Irish Language Category - Students between 10–18 years old in Ireland/U.K. Consideration will be made regarding age of entrants to standard of work.                            .                                                                                                                                                

Cavan County Council Heritage Office  *Special Category - open to Cavan National & Secondary Schools ONLY (8-18yrs). This is the European Year of Cultural Heritage – the fabric of our lives and societies. It is not only made up of literature, art and objects but also by the crafts we learn, the stories we tell, the food we eat, the songs we sing and the films we watch. The theme for the year in Ireland is ‘Make a Connection’ aiming to deepen the connection between people and heritage. This is also the theme for the poetry entries in this special Heritage Category. *Prizes awarded by The Heritage Office, Cavan.
