This residency, located in the Georgian heritage town of Birr, in South Offaly, in the heart of Ireland. Poets will stay in a period guest house with an adjoining working arts studio (Tin Jug Studio) and courtyard garden. This opportunity offers up to four writers one week's bed and breakfast accommodation in one of the period rooms of the guest house including two evening suppers.These dates would be either July: Friday 6th - Thursday 12th, 2018 or October: Sunday 7 th - Saturday 13th, 2018. Transport/travel costs are the writers’ own.
The residency bursary is open to professional published writers of any genre such as literary fiction, poetry, playwrights, journalism or travel writing. International writers may apply, and as above, their travel costs are their own.
The application requires a short outline of why you would like to – or need to – spend a relaxing and inspiring week of writing in Birr, complete application form, full CV, and sample copies of some published work. Applications are preferred in hard copy. The deadline for the application in Thursday 22nd March at 3PM. Applications will be assessed by a panel of three experts.
