We’ve a busy week ahead here in PI Education with Writers in Schools visits by John Quinn, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Seosamh O’Maolaloai, Liz Weir, and Eddie Lenihan visiting schools in locations all over the country, including Castleblayney, Grange Co Roscommon, Drogheda, Birr, and Dromore Co Tyrone. We’re delighted to welcome a new school to the programme: Banbridge Academy in Ballymena who have invited Liz Weir to share some stories on March 8th. Seamus Cashman and Paula Leyden will be delivering workshops in schools in Limerick and Monaghan as part of our on-going series of residencies in association with World Wide Global Schools
It was no easy task selecting ten young poets to attend our poetry masterclass for teenagers with Paul Muldoon, taking place in the LexIcon Library in Dun Laoghaire, as part of Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival on Saturday 12 March. Well done to all the young people who submitted their work and we hope to run more similar opportunities for young poets in the future.
Finally, we’d like welcome storyteller, Simone Schuemmelfeder, to the WIS Scheme. Simone works in German as well as English. We’ll be adding some more great names to our web-directory of artists over the coming weeks.
