Education events for week beginning Monday 14 March.

Writers in Schools has lots on this week before the Easter break!
Liz Weir will be visiting the children and young people in Fleming Fulton Special School in Belfast on March 15. Colette Nic Aodha’s Irish-language residency in Ballyhaunis Community School will finish this week, which happened thanks to the support of Foras na Gaeilge.
Schools will be busy with Proclamation Day on March 15th. Writers in Schools will be commemorating 1916 on Poetry Day Ireland, April 28th with a Children of the Revolution series of writing workshops in schools in Dublin, Monaghan, Galway and Tipperary, birthplaces of some of the major figures of the Rising. The workshops will focus on imagining the lives of children at the time and will be facilitated by Frank Galligan, Mary Melvin Geogheghan, Patricia Forde and Nell Regan.
Our 10 poets who attended the masterclass with Paul Muldoon in association with the Mountains to Sea Festival had a rare treat on Saturday. We wish them every success with their future poetic endeavours.
Lastly, we’d like to welcome Kevin McDermott and Juliette Saumande onto the WIS Scheme. Kevin McDermott writers for older children and young adults his works includes, Valentina (Little Island). Juliette is a children’s writer, who works in both English and French, and her books include Chop, Chop, Madcap (Little Island).
