Youthreach, the Department of Education and Skills official education, training and work experience programme for early school leavers aged 15 – 20 is running a competition for their students in association with Poetry Ireland.
The competition will encourage Youthreach students to write an original poem based around The Proclamation, and each poem entered must include a line from The Proclamation.
Each Youthreach centre will run an internal competition and select the best three poems for entry into the final round, which will be judged by a poet appointed by Poetry Ireland.
The closing date for applications is 1 April 2016 and the winner will be announced at a special event on Poetry Day Ireland, Thursday 28 April 2016.
1st prize for the poetry competition is an iPad, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will receive a voucher.
