Publications/Repertoire/Productions & Background Experience
Books for children: Thirsty Baby (2003) & The Magical Mystical Marvelous Coat (2001), both by Little Brown. The second won a gold award for poetry and folklore from the American Parents Association. Her stories for older children have featured in RTE Radio 1’s Fiction Fifteen series and in Stories for Jamie (Blackwater Press). Poetry collections: A Bone in My Throat (2007) and Strange Familiar (2013), both by Doghouse. Her poetry is widely anthologised, including two poems in If Ever You Go (Dedalus Press), the One City, One Book choice for 2014. Won the Francis Ledwidge Award 2009. Shortlisted for many other awards. Much of her adult poetry accessible to children and young people and has been published in children’s magazines and broadcast on RTE Junior Radio. Writes for RTE’s Sunday Miscellany and her essays for the programme have been published in several anthologies. Twice writer-in-residence in Gaelcholáiste Reachrann in Donaghmede, where she devised a poetry map of the area with the students which was used at the official opening of Fr Collins Park. Also works on Trinity Access Programmes, mainly with transition year students in under-resourced schools, and ran a creative writing summer camp for sixth year students at Trinity College in 2014.
