I run two popular creative writing classes at the Irish Writers’ Centre. I also teach history at TCD and my academic publications include The Siege of Jerusalem: Conquest and Crusade in 1099, Hambledon (London, forthcoming 2009); the Social Structure of the First Crusade, Brill (Leiden, 2008). Revolution in Ireland, Pluto Press (London, 1996 [second edition Cork, forthcoming 2009]).

Session Details

My favoured sessions are where I speak to a class (of around 30) & introduce myself & the books. I get feedback from the class & let them pick the book they would like me to read from. I take questions about the books & also about writing as a career. If we have longer than a one hour session & it suits the school, I can lead discussions on the art of writing stories & give feedback on short exercises.

Age Group Details

Preferred age group: 8-18 year olds

Availability Details

I work part time at TCD and would arrange the sessions around my timetable there. I travel on public transport.
