Publications/Repertoire/Productions & Background Experience
I have been published in many anthologies such as Dlúthpháirtíocht, Peace, Land and Bread, Outlaw Poetry and Void magazine. I have performed my poetry all over Dublin and Ireland at events and festivals including EP, All Together Now and Collins Barracks Saint Patrick Festival and I am a regular collaborator with ‘Seanchoiche’. In March 2024 I made my international debut, performing in New York. I was commissioned by Guinness in August 2023 to write a poem which he called ‘In Us’ for a promotional piece, which I also starred in. I have also written for the Irish women's soccer team. Videos of my spoken word have amassed well over a million views. My poem ‘Home’ has been performed on the radio multiple times on channels such as Newstalk, Near FM, Dublin city FM and RTÉ.
I am also a hip hop artist and lyricist. I am working on an album currently. My first single 'Butter y' received extensive radio coverage, with more releases to come over the next few months.
Along with my poetry and writing career I have also written for and acted in a number of short films and provided voice overs for documentaries.
My experience as a qualified secondary school teacher of English and History has no doubt informed and will help me to facilitate classes and workshops for students on this programme, providing me with the pedagogy to impart my artistry and writing skills onto students in an informative, supportive and student led environment.
Session Details
The key aims of my session would be to help students unlock the creative potential inside of themselves and curate a space they feel comfortable to express in, while providing them the tools to do so. We would begin by discussing poetry, their ideas of the artform, experience with writing, any misconceptions etc. I would teach them the basics (poetic techniques) and provide them with inspiration for topics to write on. A method I use is to have students write about a topic in as extensive detail as they can, taking this then using the poetic techniques we can sculpt a poem together. I would analyse poems and spoken word pieces with them, including performing my own and have them critically analyse the pieces so they can understand better the artform and apply it to their own writing. This will also really bene t them when it comes to exams. I would teach them the art of performance, stage techniques, vocal intonation, cadence, diction. This will improve their confidence and public speaking abilities. Mostly I wish to inculcate an awareness and appreciation for the artform, enhance their expression and vocabulary and show them poetry's relevancy in the modern world by applying it to their own lives, showing them contemporary poets such as Tupac and well-known Irish ones like Emmet Kirwin. This helps students relate it to their own lives and will not only enhance their academic ability but hopefully provide them with a lifelong outlet to express themselves with.
Age Group Details
No preference, I can tailor the sessions to suit age, levels, abilities etc.
