Publications/Repertoire/Productions & Background Experience
My poetry collections include Trucker's Moll (Salmon Press, 2007) & The Island (Storyline Press, USA, 1994), which was written while I was teaching at Spike Island Prison in Cork. The Island was shortlisted for the Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize at the University of Melbourne. My poems have been widely published in anthologies & magazines. At present I am working on a novel for adults.
I have written & illustrated 2 children's books which were translated into Irish & published by An Gúm as Caitríona agus An tÉinín Óir (Caitriona and the Golden Bird, 1999), and Lios Chatiríona (Caitriona's Fairy Fort, 1991).
I have given workshops & readings to adults, & schoolchildren of all ages. In 2001 I was writer in residence for Co. Kerry, and I also ran writing projects for Cork 2005 with asylum seekers & a women's group. At present I'm poetry editor for Southword, the magazine of the Munster Literature Centre.
I have edited & produced collections of writing following work with groups of adults. Last year I selected young people's writing for the Kilkenny Arts Office's Rhyme Rag, & ran a masterclass for the selected writers.

Session Details
For adults & older students, I run a workshop entitled 'Sensing Things'. Participants are invited to respond to objects designed to stimulate the senses, first with a few words, & then with longer pieces of writing. This workshop is designed to stimulate creative expression through poetry & prose. My workshops are more effective with smaller groups of people, ideally no more than 15. For young children I give a workshop which combines story-making & illustration called 'Let's Make a Book'. This is a two-hour workshop for up to 16 children. I have also undertaken novel-making & play-making projects with children at the higher levels of primary school
Age Group Details
I have given workshops to all age levels but my preferred age levels are 7 to 8 for primary school children & 16-18 for post primary. My children's books are written for the 7-8 age group & my poetry is more suitable for an older age group.
