Publications/Repertoire/Productions & Background Experience
Sheila Forsey is the youngest of a large generation of storytellers and her childhood memories are of the legends, folklore, and mysticism of Irelands intricate past. This instilled for her a deep connection to those who had gone before her and was the steppingstone for her into the world of writing. Ireland’s windswept coastline, rugged mountains, valleys, and ever-changing sky inspires her writing. She is a graduate from Maynooth in creative writing. She is the recipient of a literature bursary award from Wexford County Council and Artlinks. A deep love of drama led her to receive an All-Ireland best actress award from the Drama League of Ireland and she was a core member of the Watergate Theatre Company in Kilkenny for many years. She has written three historical fiction novels and one contemporary novel, and her writing has reached the Irish Times Best Sellers list. Her love of theatre has also led her to playwriting and her most recent play was shortlisted for Scripts Playwrights Festival in 2021. She is the facilitator for creative writing workshops for Gorey Adult Education, Wexford Arts Centre, and The Presentation Arts Centre. She is also the facilitator for creative writing for Wexford Local Development and WWETB – Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board. She is a past curator for Wexford Literary Festival and has spoken at writing festivals throughout Ireland. Her first book of historical fiction Kilbride House was selected to study as part of certain Transition groups as an insight into 1950’s Ireland. She believes that writing is an incredible source and gift for all ages, and she is very experienced hosting workshops, classes, and discussions. Her sessions can be tailor made for Infants Classes right up to Leaving Certificate Classes.

Session Details
Sessions are extremely interactive and will focus on creativity and helping students to discover their own authentic voice. Sheila will bring in her theatrical experience for more engagement especially for very young students. For older children sessions often include group work concentrating on inspiring students to create their own unique stories and giving every student time to develop their own words. All sessions are tailor- made to suit the age group. Discussion with the writer will vary from the life of a writer or to the craft of writing. For example - creating believable characters in fiction, how to create a setting that brings the reader down the rabbit hole or how to develop a convincing plot.
