How to Apply

Schools applying for a Writers in Schools single visit should:

Step 1 - Select a writer or storyteller from the Writers in Schools Directory of Writers. Visits can take many formats, from discussions, to creative writing workshops to storytelling sessions. The Writers in Schools team at Poetry Ireland is available to offer advice on artists suitable for the type of sessions required.

Step 2 - Contact the writer directly to check availability and agree a date.

Step 3 – Complete our online application form. Please read the terms of application outlined on this form carefully. Forms should be sent in as early as possible, and all applications must be received by the Writers in Schools office at least three weeks in advance of the proposed date of the visit. Forms received later than three weeks in advance will not be valid for consideration.

Step 4 - Schools will receive a confirmation letter and evaluation form in the post if their application has been successful. Should we be unable to meet a request due to funding limitations, we will contact the school to let them know. We recommend that schools submit their application support as early as possible, as we generally operate on a first-come-first-served basis and unfortunately cannot accommodate every request.
