Planned Giving

Legacy gifts help ensure that great Irish poetry continues to make a positive impact on the lives of future generations.

Including a gift in your Will for Poetry Ireland is an incredible way to generously support the future of Irish poetry. Legacy gifts act as a stabilising force for Poetry Ireland, allowing us to plan for the future and supporting us as we grow and expand our reach. Your gift will help us to continue to deliver many of Poetry Ireland’s ongoing programmes as well as to continue to innovate and develop new programmes. Your gift will be a lasting legacy – connecting poetry and people for generations to come.

If you would like to remember us in your Will, there are a number of options which can be tailored to your specific needs:

Pecuniary Gift

The simplest form of legacy, it allows you to leave a specific sum of money to Poetry Ireland. The gift can be a defined figure that does not change with time, or you may instruct your trustees to take account of the impact of inflation.

Gift of an Asset

This type of donation is in relation to physical property. which is deemed to be at the price originally paid, creating no tax liability for the donor. However, the value to Poetry Ireland would be the market value of the property. Poetry Ireland may even sell the property without tax liability as long as any proceeds are used for the approved charitable purposes of the organisation.

Residuary Legacy

This relates to leaving Poetry Ireland a gift of the residue (or a share of the residue) of the estate. Residue is whatever is left after all debts, funeral expenses, certain other costs and tax and any other legacies have been deducted.

Reversionary Legacy

Enabling you to pass your estate, or specific assets of your estate, to named individuals who will benefit throughout their lifetime. Following their deaths all, or some, of the estate is then passed to the beneficiaries as specified in the reversionary legacy.
