Accessibility
Our performance space at 11 Parnell Square is on the groud floor of a Georgian building. Most of our public events take place on the ground floor, but some meetings and workshops take place on the first floor, currently accessible by stairs only. Providing universal access to the building is the major priority in our plans for the building’s renovation. Until we have raised the funds to carry out these works, the building may pose access challenges to people with limited mobility. In the meantime we endeavour to provide assistance in any way that we possibly can to anyone who may experience difficulties accessing our building.
Front Entrance
Currently, the front entrance is not accessible for wheelchair users due to our front steps. If you’re visiting us for an event, please ring the doorbell. Outside of event times, please call +353 1 678 9815 for entry, or ring the doorbell if you can't phone.
Rear Entrance
Wheelchair users can enter through the rear of the building, accessible from Rutland Place. We currently have no lift, so only the ground floor is wheelchair-accessible. The back entrance is level with our event space on the ground floor. Can can provide limited parking if needed. Please call us on +353 1 678 9815 to arrange or email info@poetryireland.ie.
Facilities
- Please note that there are no lifts in the building. Wheelchair users are limited to the ground floor, which is the location of most of our events.
- The building currently has no accessible bathrooms. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms are avilable at The Belvedere Hotel, around the corner from us on Great Denmark Street. Please ask at reception if you wish to use the wheelchair-accessible facilities there, as they have kindly offered use of them to anyone attending Poetry Ireland events.
- Guide and assistance dogs are welcome to visit Poetry Ireland.
- We do not currently have induction loops installed in our building.
