Partnership Event: Connacht Poetry Slam

ATTENTION ALL CONNACHT POETS

The Connacht Poetry Slam is back! The competition will be held on Friday, 2nd October in De Burgos, St Augustine Street, Galway City. Doors at 6:00pm and kicking off at 6:30 or so.

Supported by Poetry Ireland, the night will be run in conjunction with The Oil Slick and hosted by Cormac Fitz. We had a great night last year, and are hoping for the same again!

The rules are simple(ish):

All poems must be from memory and can be no longer than 3 minutes max. There are 2 ROUNDS in total. Everyone gets a chance to say their piece in Round 1. 6 poets are then chosen by the judges to compete in Round 2.

The winner will then be crowned the Connacht Slam Champion. The top 3 poets on the night will be selected to compete in the All-Ireland Poetry Slam Final later this year. There will also be cash prizes for the Top 3.

To enter, you must either be resident in, or from, the Province of Connacht.

Please sign up at allirelandpoetryslam@gmail.com by Tuesday 29th September. Non-poets welcome too for a night of top-class word slinging. Any queries: please email. Full rules and guidelines will be sent out before the Slam.
