A big Poetry Town thank you

We can’t quite believe that #PoetryTown has come to a close!

What a wonderful 9 days of poetry-filled activities in 20 Poetry Towns across the island of Ireland. Just a few of these are captured in our photo collages, giving a feel for how the towns and communities came together in celebration.

A huge thank you to our Poetry Town local co-ordinators, who have given so much of themselves over the past few months, showing enthusiasm and commitment in everything they did. Also a big thank you to the Local Arts Officers of the Poetry Towns for their time and their passion for the project.

Thanks to everyone who supported #PoetryTown in the towns – businesses, schools, libraries, arts centres, shops, sports clubs, Tidy Towns groups...the list goes on. Thanks to everyone who came along to an activity and embraced poetry, maybe for the very first time!

And to all the poets and artists who got involved in activities, it was wonderful to have you on board. Big shout out to the poets whose beautiful words graced the Café and Chemist Pocket Poems, which everyone adored.

A massive thank you to our 20 Poet Laureates who were wonderful ambassadors for each town and for poetry itself. We thank you for your carefully considered Town Poems, which will live on as a legacy for each town.

Thanks to everyone who worked with the Poetry Town team here in Poetry Ireland – on our design, publicity, printing, advertising, delivery and much more. And to the media who helped spread the word about all the great activities.
