Poetry Ireland is working to increase the diversity of voices in its programmes and publications, and we published our first Diversity and Inclusion Strategy in 2018. We want to hear from poets belonging to underrepresented or misrepresented groups who are interested in becoming involved in our advisory group. This group will meet several times a year to discuss individual experiences as well as essential changes that must be made within the literature and performance sector. Our aim with this project is to ensure all the diverse voices that contribute to contemporary Ireland are amplified.
We are seeking feedback from poets who fall within one or more of the minority groups that are protected under the Nine
Grounds of Equal Status laid out by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission: gender (including transgender), civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race, and membership of the Traveller community. We would also like to hear from poets from diverse socio economic backgrounds as well as recent migrants.
To express your interest in becoming involved with this initiative and for more details, please email Elizabeth at firstname.lastname@example.org.
