Poetry Beside the Sea Workshop Series
Poetry Beside the Sea in-person at the Lexicon Library, Dún Laoghaire (28th Sept to 8th Nov, 2023)
Poetry Beside the Sea is a project concerned with biodiversity and climate change, open to the public and led by award-winning poet and biologist Jane Robinson. In this workshop series you'll write outdoors on local ‘field trips’ and craft your poems indoors. The workshops will take place between the Lexicon Library and the Irish Sea on Thursdays (from 11am to 2pm, for 5 weeks: 28th September; 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th October, 2023); followed by participation in an evening reading event with local musicians on Wednesday 8th Nov.
We invite applications from writers of all levels, including experienced and novice poets. Please send a letter of interest, including a one page sample of work if available, to Jane Robinson (poetry.beside.the.sea@gmail.com) by Friday 1st September. Numbers will be limited.
Jane Robinson’s second poetry collection, Island and Atoll (Salmon, 2023), “alternates enthralling visions of the natural world with poems that explore how the loss of our environment disorientates us at the level of sense and meaning…” wrote Jessica Traynor in a recent Irish Times review. “These are formally ambitious, compelling poems which refine and refresh the Irish eco-poetic tradition.”
