Poetry Ireland is inviting submissions for Bright Ideas Proposals for Poetry Day Ireland 2021

23rd February 2021

Poetry Day Ireland will take place on Thursday 29 April 2021 with the theme ‘New Directions: Maps and Journeys’.

We are offering up to €800 each towards a maximum of four creative and innovative ideas for Poetry Day Ireland 2021 through Bright Ideas, our public submissions call out. Proposals should inspire and engage audiences while adhering to current Level 5 Covid-19 government guidelines.

Maps stoke our dreams about future adventures. The spinning globe excites us in anticipation of travel, and a variety of locations yet to be visited. But the unmapped provides just as much fuel for the imagination; the mysteries stirred by buried cities and embattled borders.

What does it mean to go off map? Or to take the road less travelled as Robert Frost once wrote. For Poetry Day Ireland 2021, we’ll explore these themes in poetry, and we invite you to join us on this journey of discovery. Check your coordinates, sketch out your route and get ready for a poetry adventure on 29 April 2021!

Programming proposals for this funding must be submitted by 12pm on Monday 15 March. Four grants of up to €800 each are available.

What to submit:

 • An Event
 • A Project

Objectives:

We want to see creative ideas that engage new audiences with poetry in imaginative ways. With this in mind, innovative and unusual ideas are more likely to be successful. Cross-disciplinary events are welcome and encouraged.
