Taking Back the House: Poetry Ireland Introductions 2023 e-publication launches

10th November 2023

Poetry Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of Taking Back the House: Poetry Ireland Introductions 2023.

Taking Back the House: Poetry Ireland Introductions 2023 is now available on Amazon Kindle for £0.99, with all proceeds going towards the publication of the 2024 Introductions e-book.

This anthology features the very best of Ireland's emerging poets for 2023, as chosen by Tara Bergin, winner of the Seamus Heaney Prize for Poetry, whose collections include This is Yarrow and Savage Tales (Carcanet Press), along with renowned Irish-language poet Aifric Mac Aodha.

The anthology marks the culmination of Introductions 2023 and the dedicated Irish language strand Céadlínte Éigse Éireann 2023, whereby emerging poets are chosen from a huge number of applicants to take part in a series of workshops with award-winning poets Annemarie Ní Churreáin and Tara Bergin. The selected poets perform their work at a two-night Introductions | Céadlínte showcase as part of Dublin Book Festival 2023.

This year’s Introductions poets are Sam Furlong Tighe, Colm Brennan, Siobhán Flynn, Maeve McKenna, Rafael Mendes, Stephen de Búrca, Eoin Rogers, Susanna Galbraith, Olha Matso and David Nash.

The Céadlínte Éigse Éireann poets are Laoighseach Ní Choistealbha, Gormfhlaith Ní Shíocháin Ní Bheoláin, Sam Ó Fearraigh and Liam Ó hAnnagáin.

For the anthology, each poet has provided a pair of poems and a short, personal prose piece exploring topics from music and travel to more personal reflections, establishing a dynamic collection of work.

Recent alumni of the series include: Nidhi Zak / Aria Eipe, Molly Twomey, Eleanor Hooker, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Susannah Dickey, and Stephen Sexton.

The Introductions | Céadlinte series continues to showcase quality poems and prose from Poetry Ireland, connecting poetry and people.

Taking Back the House: Poetry Ireland Introductions 2023 is now available on Amazon Kindle for £0.99, with all proceeds going towards the publication of the 2024 Introductions e-book.
