The Unlikely Event of Flying: Poetry Ireland Introductions 2024 is an anthology of poetry and short prose featuring early-career poets selected by Stephen Sexton, winner of the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and author of the collection Cheryl's Destinies (Penguin), along with renowned Irish-language poet Aifric Mac Aodha.
This year’s Introductions poets are Niamh Twomey, Kevin O’Farrell, Mia Vance, Ben Keatinge, Clíodhna Bhreatnach, Fionn Andrews, Charlotte Buckley, Maciej Baltruszewicz, Áine Rose Connell and Shakeema Edwards. The Céadlínte Éigse Éireann poets are Sorcha de Brún, Joanne Nic Cárthaigh, Máire Ní Laoire, Cáit Pléimionn, Áine Nic an tSíthigh and Éire Ní Fhaoláin.
Alumni of the series include Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe, Molly Twomey, Eleanor Hooker, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Susannah Dickey, and David Nash.
