"Volunteering has given me an opportunity to meet and discuss poetry with others who share an interest. And to realise how busy and active the poetry world is! The opportunity to attend events and hear poetry spoken by the poets themselves is a bonus."– Margaret, Poetry Ireland volunteer
Poetry Ireland runs a number of vibrant contemporary poetry events throughout the year at our premises in Parnell Square, Dublin. We are seeking energetic and friendly volunteers to help us out at our events over the coming season.
We usually ask volunteers to assist us at one or two public events per month, which typically take place in the evenings between 6.30pm and 9pm. Duties include serving wine and beverages, managing the door, and liaising with Poetry Ireland staff to ensure that all readers and visitors feel welcome and comfortable at Poetry Ireland. We very much value our volunteers, who contribute greatly to the positive feedback that we receive from attendees at events.
If you are interested in volunteering during autumn/winter 2019/20, please let us know. We’d just ask you to email Elizabeth Mohen at firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief paragraph about why you’d like to help Poetry Ireland in its mission of connecting poetry and people. Prospective volunteers will be asked to come into Poetry Ireland for a brief, informal chat.
