The announcement of the winner of The Moth Poetry Prize 2019!

Join the publishers of The Moth at a drinks reception followed by a reading of the shortlisted poems before the overall winner of €10,000 is announced. The shortlist:

‘Sestina’ by Margaret Park Haas (USA)    Margaret is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets College Prize and currently works at the Millbrook School in New York.

‘Christmas Work Detail, Samos’ by Steven Heighton (Canada)                                      Steven’s most recent poetry collection received the Governor General’s Award for Poetry. His novel Afterlands was a New York Times Book Review editors’ choice.

‘Dead Drift’ by Jude Nutter (USA)                   Jude divides her time between Minneapolis and Dingle, where she has a family home. Her first collection was published by Salmon after she won the Listowel Prize, and her fourth collection, Dead Reckoning, will be published by Salmon next year.

‘Octonaut’ by David Stavanger (Australia) David’s first collection of poetry was awarded the Wesley Michel Wright Poetry Prize. Among other things, David was Co-Director of the Queensland Poetry Festival from 2015 to 2017.

The prize was judged this year by Jacob Polley.
