Men’s Poetry Slam led by Stanley Notte

Men’s Poetry Slam led by Stanley Notte, Cork poet, musician and storyteller.
A highlight of Bandon Poetry Town, this mens-wordshop is part of our coming together again - and dedicated to proving that men do talk.
Participants can expect to discover several writing skills and create a number of poems. If comfortable, they can share them with the group, and gain a healthy insight. Stanley will share some of the experiences and the techniques that helped him understand and recover from depression.
Stanley’s poetry films have been screened at the Cork Indie Festival, Dublin’s Bowie Festival, Long Listed at The Rabbit Heart Festival, and Mrs Xavier, placed 3rd in The Doolin Writers Festival Video competition. In 2019 Stanley toured ‘The Truth Is…’ , a poetry performance about his journey through depression.

Creative Bandon is excited about working with Stanley - the male demographic is rarely a target group in the arts. This coming together after a period of intense social and economic upheaval is overdue, and in great hands with such a raconteur. Our hope is that a group could emerge from the workshops, to meet on an ongoing basis to take the medicine of poetry.
Participants will be invited to take part in our long awaited Culture Night on 17 September and our Poetry Supper on Sat 18 September.
