Poet Laureate Event

Carrick-on-Suir Poetry Town launch and town poem unveiling

We are delighted to welcome you to an evening of music and poetry, on the opening night of Poetry Town, for the unveiling of the Town Poem for Carrick-on-Suir, by Poetry Town Poet Laureate Billy Fenton. This launch event was recorded in the beautiful surroundings of the first floor gallery at The Tudor Artisan Hub arts collective. 

Alongside the reading of the specially commissioned Town Poem by Billy Fenton, we will be joined by special guest, the internationally renowned poet Michael Coady, who will read from his work. We will also have poems written and read by Carrick-on-Suir writers, Ann Dempsey; Mary McGrath; Heather Wall; Raika Tienert; and Margaret O’Brien. 

Renowned composer and performer, Marian Ingoldsby will play a selection of music from Irish composers. 

The pieces are:

‘Haiku no 3’, by Eric Sweeney 

‘Undulations’, by Marian Ingoldsby 

‘The Plains of Boyne’, by Micheal O'Suilleabhan
