Dunshaughlin

Dunshaughlin, (Dún Seachlainn, meaning 'the Fort of Seachlainn or locally, Domhnach Seachnaill, meaning 'St Seachnall's Church'), is a thriving satellite market town in the south of Co Meath.

With its many shops and amenities Dunshaughlin offers its residents and visitors a variety of things to do and see such as live entertainment, festivals and events, heritage trails and historical sites. Dunshaughlin is close to the Boyne Valley, an area of outstanding beauty and history with many famous and important historical locations such as the Hill of Skryne, the Hill of Tara, Dunsany Castle, Killeen Castle, Trim Castle, Newgrange, Oldbridge House, and Kells.

In 2021, to mark Poetry Day Ireland, the inaugural Dunshaughlin Poetry Trail was launched entitled: Wander with Words.

This saw 38 displays of crafted word dotted throughout businesses and public spaces in the town.  Following the success of this event, Poetry Ireland is delighted to name Dunshaughlin as County Meath’s Poetry Town 2021.
