Mountmellick Poetry Town and Poetry Ireland firmly believe in the power of poetry as a tool for social and personal growth. We are committed to engaging our local community through a programme of compelling experiences tailored to our neighbourhood and its needs. 

As part of Poetry Town, we’ve planned a number of unique workshops for community groups in Mountmellick. These include: 
 
Mountmellick Men’s Shed 
 
The members of Mountmellick Men’s Shed will be joined by Mountmellick Poet Laureate, Arthur Broomfield, at The Balcony Theatre. Arthur will share with them the craft of writing poetry as beginners. 


Mountmellick United FC 
 
The women of Mountmellick United F.C. are honoured to take part in Poetry Town with their specially-commissioned poem highlighting the importance of women’s participation in sport & the mental health benefits that transpire as a result.
