Poetry Ireland Review 141, edited by Nidhi Zak / Aria Eipe, is now available to purchase online. It features new poems from Raymond Antrobus, Michael Dooley, Éireann Lorsung, Deirdre Sullivan, and Mícheál McCann, as well as work from Palestinian writers leena aboutaleb and Rasha Abdulhadi, among many others.
Irish-language editor Aifric Mac Aodha’s selection includes poetry from Áine Uí Fhoghlú, Eoin P. Ó Murchú, and Pádraig Ó Snodaigh.
In this extended issue, there are a total of 25 books reviewed which speak on protest poetry and on poetry and activism including new collections from Nerys Williams, Arji Manuelpillai, Majed Mujed, and Susannah Dickey; also debut collections from Dawn Watson, Dylan Brennan, and Declan Ryan. Other prose in this issue includes Bebe Ashley’s essay on aphantasia along with an insightful interview with Gabriel Rosenstock, extracted from Inside Innti: A New Wave in Irish Poetry edited by Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh and Tristan Rosenstock. The issue also highlights poetry in translation with Keith Payne and Morgan Leathem Ventura translating work from Luisa Castro and Héctor Pineda Santiago, respectively.
Poetry Ireland Review 141 will be available to purchase in leading bookshops in Ireland and Britain from the week beginning Monday, 18 December. Copies of the issue for subscribers and contributors will arrive in the post from 18 December onwards.
