Observations by a Pond at Dusk iin Gainsville, Florida with a Thank-You

Greg Delanty
Beneath the green fountam of a palm tree
a duck loiters on one leg
with its wings in white pockets. A squirrel gallivants
up a telegraph pole
& skedaddles across the tight rope of a humming power line.
Male crickets
begin to mimic this sound with the mating call
of their wings.
They will continue
doing so till dawn.
The wings
of a young man's lobsided heart, as he reveali his life story
to an enchanted young female, transmit their own bestial
but also celestial,
mating call.
I blaze, blessed
by the brillance of them all.
