Enjoy a feast of music and poetry in three of Ireland's great historic houses, introduced by Olivia O'Leary, acclaimed journalist and presenter of RTÉ Radio 1's Poetry Programme. Produced by Poetry Ireland in partnership with the OPW.
Olivia O'Leary is joined by acclaimed Donegal poets Moya Cannon and Annemarie Ní Churreáin, as well as beguiling singer-songwriter Kevin Doherty in Glebe House and Gallery. Set alongside gorgeous Glenveagh National Park, Glebe was once the home of the renowned artist Derek Hill, and now displays collections of Islamic and Japanese art, as well as 300 works by leading twentieth-century artists including Picasso.
Moya Cannon's collection, Hands, was nominated for the 2012 Irish Times/Poetry Now Award. Her poems reflect preoccupations with landscape and seascape, with archaeology, with music and with language itself. In 2016, Annemarie Ní Churreáin was the recipient of a Next Generation Artists Award from the Arts Council of Ireland. Her debut collection, BLOODROOT, was released last year. Kevin Doherty has played with various bands since the late 1980s and currently records and performs both as a solo artist and as a member of Four Men and a Dog.
[Moya Cannon's] intensely lyrical musings on life, landscape and love stir the heart, disturb the settled thought and... soothe the soul"
