Poetry Day Ireland

Poetry Day Ireland is a major one-day festival of Irish poetry taking place on 27 April, presented by Poetry Ireland in partnership with poetry enthusiasts the length and breadth of the country.

The theme this year is Message in a Bottle, curated by poet Martina Evans. Individuals, venues, and organisations of all types are now invited to register their prospective events with Poetry Ireland for inclusion in the Poetry Day Ireland line-up.

In previous years, more than 150 events, projects, and initiatives have taken place in celebration of Poetry Day Ireland in libraries, bookshops, arts centres, schools, hotels, nightclubs, bars, cafés and street corners from Kerry to Derry. While all events are expected to amplify poetry in some form, whether that be spoken or written, cross-disciplinary and unusual ideas are not only allowed, but enthusiastically encouraged.

Registered events will be featured on the Poetry Day website and as part of the Poetry Day programme and will be included in our promotional activity for the day. The earlier you register your event with us, the more we'll be able to help you promote it. You can register your Poetry Day event with us until Sunday 26 March.
